Exam templates give administrators the opportunity to create a template for an exam where settings and modules are mandatory for teachers. This is to e.g. ensure that all students receive exactly the same exam and at the same time making it easier for teachers to set up exams.
In the “Exam Templates” page you can manage default settings for exams in ChromEx.
The Default configuration controls what settings are applied if there is no other configuration available or the teacher does not choose another.
Click on “Create Exam Template” to create a template for your exams.
For example you might want to create a template that will have some additional security requirements.
When you create your exam templates, you can choose settings, such as whether the exams should be anonymized, whether the students should have PIN codes for the test, which exam clients the exam can be conducted on and which accessibility options are allowed. When you are done, press "Create".
An exam template can be good to use in, for example high stakes exams like National exams, when you want special security settings.
For certain options, there are padlocks. Those locks regulate whether anyone other than the user who created the sample template can change anything in the sample, such as the name or which sample clients are allowed. If the locks are unlocked, other teachers can apply changes, but if they are locked, only the user who created the exam template can apply changes.
Additional settings for exam templates
Storage space for submissions
If you do not want teachers to receive the submitted tests on their Google Drive, you can choose to store the tests in a shared unit for each test. There you can make rights settings for the teacher who has completed the test.
For example: What type of eligibility the teacher should have for the submitted exams and how long they should have access.
Here you can choose which fields should be in the header of the student's submitted exam.
You can also add a custom field such as:
1. The teacher fills in when creating the test based on the template
2. The student fills in when it starts the test
You can use these fields as either metadata in the header or when you want to name the folders in which the tests are created or the file names that are created when the student submits the test.
Settings for export and line spacing
Here you can set the name of the folder for the submitted files and the file name of the student's submitted exam. You can also add the custom fields.
The line spacing controls only the submitted files and does not affect the student's writing space in the exam.

Activate exam template
To give teachers access to use the exam templates, the administrator need to activate the templates.
Using exam templates as a teacher
To use an exam template, the teacher selects "Exam from template" and selects the template that the administrator has created.
After selecting a template, the teacher should add the start and end time for the exam. If you have chosen one or more PIN codes should be mandatory, enter them before you create the test.
When the teacher has added start and end time and any PIN codes and pressed "Create", she can add students to the exam.
